Monterey Car Week is finally here. For the occasion we thought about doing a roundup of the 5 cars appearing at the event that talk to us the most.
Every year, the Monterey Car Week gathers the best of the best, the cream of the crop of the automotive world. Some cars are exposed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance while others are part of special events.
A plethora of manufacturers are unveiling their newest creations to the public. Most of them already announced what was under the tarp, but some keeps the secret until the last minute. Oh! And there’s also an auction going on too during the event.
Here’s our top 5 cars at the 2019 Monterey Car Week in no particular order.
1939 Porsche Type 64
Porsche. No lists can be complete without a Porsche. Well, this year’s not different. RM Sotheby’s auction features one of the first Porsche ever built, the 1939 Porsche Type 64. According to Sotheby’s, this copy is the “first and sole remainder of the three examples believed completed.” It should fetch somewhere around $20 million USD.
1994 McLaren F1 ‘LM-Specification’
Talking about the RM Sotheby’s auction, they have another stunner and unique car this year, the 1994 McLaren F1 ‘LM-Specification’. This McLaren F1 is one of the 64 road cars built and also one of the two copies made with the ‘LM-Specification’ by the factory. This example should go fetch between $21 million and $23 million USD.
Other than the US debut of Bugatti’s La Voiture Noire, the French manufacturer came to Monterey with a surprise. On Friday August 16th, they will unveil an homage to the famous Bugatti EB110. EVO magazine says it will be named Centodieci, which means 110 in Italian. Also according the the British magazine, the homage will be based on the Chiron.
2020 Lexus LC 500 Inspiration Series
Lexus kicked it up a notch with the 2020 LC 500 Inspiration Series during the Monterey Car Week festivities. The limited edition Coupe will be offered in only 100 units in the U.S. and will wear an exclusive Nori Green Pearl exterior color. Meanwhile, the interior will feature a two-tone in Bespoke Saddle Tan/Black Amber as well as Alcantara door inserts. The 2020 Lexus LC 500 Inspiration Series will go on sale this fall.
Acura Type S Concept
The Type S Concept represents Acura’s return to the Precision Crafted Performance philosophy. The Concept also showcases new design elements like the next-generation Jewel Eye LED headlights as well as giving styling cues for the upcoming, redesigned Acura TLX. Furthermore, the Acura Type S Concept marks the return of the Type S performance variants after an absence of 10 years.
