Here are five electric vehicles that can accommodate seven or more occupants.

Introduced to the Canadian automotive market in the 2024 model year, the Kia EV9 is a three-row mid-size SUV that’s 100% electric. Consumers can choose between RWD and AWD powertrains. Depending on the version chosen, the maximum range is up to 489 kilometres. What’s more, buyers can choose between a six- or seven-seat configuration. The Kia EV9 2024 starts at approximately $60,000.

Mercedes-Benz’s electric vehicle range includes several models, including the EQS SUV. This 100% electric luxury SUV comes standard in a two-row configuration that can accommodate five occupants. However, an additional bench seat can be added as an option, allowing up to seven individuals to climb aboard. The range is rated at 531 kilometres.

Incidentally, the Mercedes-Benz EQB, a smaller luxury electric SUV, can accommodate up to seven people.

In addition to the R1T pickup truck, Rivian offers the R1S SUV. With its three rows of seats, this electric SUV comfortably accommodates up to seven people. It also stands out for its front cargo space. The Rivian R1S can travel up to 644 kilometres on a single charge. Its entry price is set at $111,900.

2024 Tesla Model X

If the Tesla Model S was one of the pioneers in the world of electric cars, the same can be said of the Model X in the electric SUV niche. It first impressed with its Falcon rear doors. The Tesla Model X is practical, with a third row accommodating up to seven occupants. For 2024, the range includes two versions: All-Wheel-Drive ($116,330) and Plaid ($141,530). At maximum, the Tesla Model X can complete a 539-kilometre trip on a single charge.

The Tesla Model Y can also be fitted with a third row of seats for $3,000.

2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz

In 2025, Volkswagen pulled off a major coup by reviving the Type 2 of yesteryear and marketing the first family-oriented electric minivan in North America. While the European model can be delivered with only two rows of seats, the North American version has a third row as standard. Buyers can choose between a six—or seven-seat configuration. Targeting an undoubtedly nostalgic clientele, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz is capable of covering 377 kilometres on a single charge.
