Grand Wagoneer is the most luxurious SUV ever produced by Stellantis
It’s the flagship of the new premium Wagoneer brand
It can tow up to 10,000 pounds
We actually wrote this Q&A about the 2022 Grand Wagoneer back in September when the Grand Wagoneer concept was unveiled. There was a lot of supposition at the time, and boy was I off the mark.
The 2022 Grand Wagoneer is definitely a premium SUV and it is the flagship of the Stellantis lineup, we got that right. But it’s not a Jeep, it’s a new premium brand that’s derived from Jeep. Wagoneer is its own thing, and the Grand Wagoneer is what it does best.
What’s New About The 2022 Grand Wagoneer?
First off, it looks almost identical to the concept which is great news. The Grand Wagoneer is big and it looks luxurious. There will be four versions offered including an Obsedian model, a blacked-out beast with massive 22 inch wheels.
Inside, the 2022 Grand Wagoneer is all about luxury and from the pictures and the available features, there’s no question it’s aiming to be nothing less than the flagship premium SUV on the market.
There is a total of 75-inches of screen area inside the 2022 Grand Wagoneer including a 12.0-inch centre display housing a new Uconnect5 infotainment system. There’s a lower screen that serves as an extension of the main screen, and the passenger also get their own 10.25-inch screen. What’s nice about that screen is that gives the passenger the ability to connect a phone or play with the navigation system. It also controls the rear entertainment. In other words, the driver can focus on the road as opposed to starting the movie for the kids.
And speaking of movies, the Grand Wagoneer is connected to Fire TV for Auto which grants access to thousands of shows and movies. This is in addition to just about any other connectivity feature you can think of including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa virtual assistant, and SiriusXM 360L.
If you read our comprehensive 2022 Grand Wagoneer overview, you know that it is almost impossible to list all of the features Stellantis has crammed into this 8-passenger SUV with available captain’s chairs in the first and second row.
There’s a ton of safety tech (120 total standard safety features, Stellantis says) as well including some pretty nifty features like Night Vision with pedestrian and animal detection.
The refinement, however, doesn’t seem to come at the expense of off-road capability and pure, raw power.
Powering the 2022 Grand Wagoneer is a 6.4-litre V8 that delivers 471 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough to tow up to 10,000 pounds and reach 60 mph (97 km/h) in 6.0 seconds.
4×4 is standard on the Grand Wagoneer as is Selec-Terrain with five drive modes (Auto, Snow, Rock, Sand/Mud, Sport). Also standard is the Quadra-Lift air suspension that can increase ground clearance by up to 3.6 inches.
The Grand Wagoneer is a body-on-frame setup, but aluminium and high-strength steel are used to improve rigidity and lower weight.
To drive home the point that the Grand Wagoneer is as premium an SUV as it gets, buyers who have put down a deposit will be assisted by a concierge who will be the liaison with their dealership. Dealerships had to be approved to sell the Wagoneer brand, and only those that earned a “Customer First” designation from J.D. Power could apply.

What Do We Think About The 2022 Grand Wagoneer?
Thoroughly impressed. Stellantis managed to build a premium SUV that isn’t just very luxurious, but also powerful, capable, and confident off-road. On paper, there doesn’t seem to be any direct rivals that can combine towing capacity, advanced features, engine power, off-road capability, and refinement like the Grand Wagoneer.
But new vehicles always look great on paper. The key test is on the road. Stay tuned.
