From what can be seen, this three-row SUV will combine rugged elements with the brand’s new design language.
This model could compete with models such as the Kia EV9 and Rivian R1S.

A concept sketch posted on Instagram by General Motors’ design department hints at what might be coming from Buick by the end of the decade.
From what can be seen, the company’s entry-level luxury brand could be working on a large three-row electric SUV that would feature a slightly more rugged appearance than current Buick models.
The sketch, penned by designer Geoffrey Richmond, shows a fairly boxy SUV that features large wheels, high-riding suspension, roof rails, and a front bumper protector, in addition to the styling elements already found in the new 2024 Buick models.
This means boomerang-shaped daytime running lights that merge into low-slung headlamps and a trapezoidal front grille accented by a chrome moulding.
Nothing in the image confirms this model will be powered by an electric powertrain, but given that Buick has committed to only sell electric vehicles by 2030, the likelihood of an entirely new gas-powered model being in development is low.
Speaking of electric powertrains, the brand already offers four fully electric models in China, but Canadian and American buyers will have to wait until the end of 2024 before they can take the wheel of an electric Buick.
This first EV to be offered in North America is expected to be the Electra E5, a mid-sized SUV based on the Ultium platform which has already been launched in China.
Since Buick has trademarked the Electra E1 to E9 names with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), we know its future electric models will use the historic Electra name followed by an alphanumeric code that represents their place in the model range.
No technical details are available yet for the future model depicted in the design sketch, but its seven-passenger layout and its rugged aspirations could make it a close competitor for the Rivian R1S and the new Kia EV9.
