A Ford Ranger Super Duty We Would Like in North America

Ford expands the Ranger Super Duty lineup for 2026 with a new Pick-Up body style and XLT trim, offering heavy-duty towing, added comfort features, new options and mid-2026 Australian availability. Sadly, it’s even close to come to North America

  • It’s max towing capacity is 4 500 kg ( 9 921 lb)
  • Base price in Canada would be around 86 000$
  • There is a long list of possible options and accessories

Ford Australia is introducing major updates to the Ranger Super Duty lineup with the addition of a new Pick-Up body style and a more refined XLT series. Announced as part of the MY26.5 update, arriving in mid-2026, these changes aim to broaden the truck’s appeal for both commercial operators and long-distance travellers, all while maintaining the model’s standout capabilities: a 4500-kilogram (9 921 lb) towing capacity, 4500-kilogram (9 921 lb) GVM and 8000-kilogram (17 637 lb) GCM. The new Pick-Up configuration starts at a Manufacturer List Price of $93,990 in Australian Dollars or about $86 000 in Canadian Dollars.

Built to Do Even More

According to Andrew Birkic, President and CEO of Ford Australia, the expansion reflects clear customer demand. He notes that buyers wanted a vehicle capable of extreme towing and hauling, but with added convenience and versatility. The introduction of both the Pick-Up body style and the XLT grade now makes the Super Duty suitable for a wider range of uses, from job-site demands to cross-country touring.

For drivers who regularly cover long distances across Australia, Birkic emphasizes that comfort is just as important as raw capability. The new XLT trim has been designed precisely with this in mind, bringing greater refinement to a platform already known for its heavy-duty performance.

The Ranger Super Duty Pick-Up: Ready for Work and Adventure

For the first time, the Ranger Super Duty will be offered as a Pick-Up. This configuration maintains the full strength of the cab-chassis versions while adding the practicality of a factory-fitted tub, making it well-suited to families, recreational users and businesses that require immediate load versatility.

The Pick-Up keeps all key Super Duty specifications intact:

  • GVM: 4500 kg
  • GCM: 8000 kg
  • Towing capacity: 4500 kg
  • Power: 207 hp at 3250 rpm
  • Torque: 402 ft-lb at 1750 rpm

It also carries over the widened 1710-mm track and 850-mm wading depth that define the model’s extreme-duty credentials.

Ambrose Henderson, Ford Australia’s Marketing Director, describes this new body style as the ideal solution for customers who tow heavy equipment during the week but want a capable off-road touring vehicle on weekends. In his view, the Pick-Up bridges the gap between a dedicated workhorse and a premium adventure vehicle.

Ford will share additional details on payload, ground clearance and other measurements closer to market launch.

Introducing the XLT: Durability Meets Comfort

The MY26.5 update also brings the XLT grade to the Super Duty family. Available on Double Cab Cab-Chassis and Double Cab Pick-Up models, it targets drivers who need rugged durability but don’t want to give up the comfort required for extended touring.

  • Leather-accented rear seating
  • Carpet flooring
  • Front all-weather floor mats

Further XLT specifications will be announced ahead of the vehicle’s arrival, and pricing for existing cab-chassis versions remains unchanged.

  • 8.9-inch digital rear-view mirror
    • Aeroklas twin in-bed drawer system
    • Commercial and lifestyle canopy choices, including Lift & Slide and Dual-Lift configurations

Additional factory options will be detailed closer to the arrival date.
