A Preview of the Next-Generation Hyundai Venue Emerges in India

Hyundai is expected to soon unveil a new generation of its smallest SUV, the Venue. With ongoing U.S. tariff discussions, the question remains whether Canada will get it.

  • This marks the second generation of the Venue
  • The model replaces the Accent in Hyundai’s North American lineup
  • Its base price is expected to surpass $25,000 for the first time

What’s New

The completely redesigned exterior draws inspiration from the smaller Hyundai Exter—sold in other markets—and the Palisade, with its sharper, more angular lines. Gone is the Venue’s once playful personality, replaced by a bolder and more rugged stance.

At the front, the new split-headlight design features “Twin Horn” LED daytime running lights, LED projectors, and a full-width light bar, all framed by a rectangular grille and a prominent metallic skid plate. The result is a more mature and modern look overall.

From the side, sculpted fenders reminiscent of the Tucson, a glossy C-pillar insert, and a more upright posture define its profile. The proportions have also been tweaked: height increases by 48 mm, width by 30 mm, and the wheelbase stretches 20 mm to reach 2,520 mm. Despite this, overall length should remain unchanged at 3,995 mm.
At the rear, full-width horizontal taillights evoke certain Opel models, while a large protective plate covers much of the bumper. The new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels appear slightly undersized given the increased ride height, complemented by taller roof rails.

A More Modern and Connected Cabin

Inside, there are few surprises—Hyundai’s design evolution continues with a panoramic curved display that combines two 12.3-inch screens. The redesigned dashboard incorporates sleeker air vents and a “Venue” inscription, while the center console retains physical climate controls arranged more ergonomically. The new four-spoke steering wheel takes inspiration from the Ioniq 5 and other recent Hyundai models, now a signature design trait.

The cabin’s blue-and-grey theme is enhanced by ambient lighting and leather upholstery. Practicality has been improved with reclining rear seats, rear sunshades, and rear air vents now included. Rear passengers benefit from more comfort, with Hyundai claiming that the longer wheelbase and sculpted seatbacks provide additional legroom.

Carried-Over Powertrain

The powertrain remains a mystery, but based on other markets, it’s likely to retain the 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine producing 121 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT transmission and front-wheel drive.

Market Launch and Availability

It’s still unclear whether this second-generation Venue will make its way across the Pacific to North America. If it does, a 2027 model-year introduction seems plausible, given the 2026 update. However, considering the model’s modest sales performance in the U.S., tariffs and homologation costs could ultimately prevent its importation to Canada and the U.S.
