A Tribute to Barn Finds

Imagine coming across a 1970 Plymouth Superbird in a barn.

A car is called a “barn find” when it has been forgotten in a barn for many years and is rediscovered before eventually being restored. Essentially, it’s a rusty, sometimes rodent-infested car that may even have been partially crashed, and which has sat abandoned for far too long. At the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, special attention was paid to this type of car.

In fact, every year, a portion of the show is reserved for these corroded, dusty cars that the uninitiated would send straight to the scrap heap. Year after year, this section grows in popularity, and the number of cars straight out of a barn increases. In fact, some cars are first exhibited in this section, only to end up as the main attraction a few years later, after undergoing a major overhaul.

Among the models that caught our eye the most were the famous Oldsmobile Cutlass from Chicago, a 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a Shelby GT 500, a 1970 pre-production Plymouth Cuda, a 1959 Chevrolet Corvette owned by the same family throughout its history, a 1969 Plymouth GTX with Hemi V8 engine and manual transmission, and a 1961 Chevrolet Impala convertible.
