Honda is preparing substantial updates for two of its most important midsize nameplates, with a heavily revised Accord sedan and a more capable Passport SUV. Their job is to strengthen the brand’s position in both passenger-car and adventure-oriented utility segments.
The upcoming Accord update is described as far more extensive than a typical midcycle refresh. The revised sedan is expected to reach showrooms in the second half of 2027 and deliver styling, technology and design changes significant enough to give customers the impression of an all-new vehicle. This is a formula similar to the one Honda will use for the Ridgeline.

According to sources, the refreshed Accord will move away from the current model’s restrained appearance in favour of a sharper, more contemporary design. Expected exterior revisions include a narrower grille, slimmer lighting elements, revised front-end styling and a more angular rear profile. The design direction may be inspired by Honda’s cancelled 0 Series electric sedan program while maintaining mainstream appeal.
The Accord’s cabin is also expected to receive updates focused on technology and usability. Larger digital displays, revised infotainment features and enhancements to Honda’s driver-assistance systems are anticipated. Powertrain changes are expected to be limited, although Honda’s S+ Shift system, first introduced on the Prelude and planned for the Civic Hybrid, could logically migrate to the Accord Hybrid.
Honda may reveal the updated Accord as early as August in some markets. Dealers in Japan have reportedly begun accepting reservations, while the Chinese-market Accord has already received a significant refresh for the 2026 model year, indicating the styling direction Honda may pursue globally.
Alongside the Accord program, Honda is preparing a more rugged Passport. Less than two years after the crossover’s latest overhaul, the automaker plans to increase the ride height of the TrailSport trim by approximately one inch and introduce suspension revisions intended to improve off-road performance.
Additional exterior refinements are expected to create a more aggressive appearance, building on upgrades such as improved underbody protection, larger all-terrain tires and enhanced approach and departure angles.
The Passport has become an increasingly important product for Honda. The model achieved record sales of last year, with TrailSport versions representing roughly 80 %. In Canada, the Passport is only offered in Trailsport guise. Honda plans to increase Passport production by approximately 13% during an upcoming production pause for the Ridgeline pickup.
