Hand-built PMC edition RDX limited to just 30
Thermal Orange RDX models show up at dealers next month
On September 22nd, Acura announced that it was planning a special Thermal Orange handcrafted version of the RDX crossover. On October 6th, they announced that all 30 of the Acura RDX PMC edition vehicles had been sold through a pre-order. Today, they announced the price.
It seems like the wrong way around, but when you’re offered a chance to buy a special RDX painted in the NSX’s Thermal Orange paint and that’s been handcrafted at the Performance Manufacturing Center in Ohio, you need to jump. And that the model comes with special black exterior trim as well as orange stitching throughout the cabin, it’s just icing on the cake. Or at least we hope it is because this is no bargain-basement RDX. The MSRP of the RDX PMC is $58,890, and deliveries will start next month.
That price seems rather astounding if you look at the 2021 RDX’s base price of $44,390, but, then again, this isn’t a base-spec vehicle.
A fully loaded 2021 Acura RDX Platinum Elite model has an MSRP of $54,390, and that’s if you pick it in one of the three base paint colours. But the RDX PMC adds some extra equipment to that including the sports seats of the A-Spec and that vehicle’s 20-inch wheels and body kit.
Do the math and that’s $4,500 to get the Thermal Orange paint, extra standard equipment, hand-built assembly, and have one of just 30 in the country? Maybe that’s not such a bad deal. It’s also not that much more than what Acura charges to get Thermal Orange on the NSX in the first place. So perhaps those 30 RDX PMC buyers are the ones who know how to strike a bargain.
