Fourth-gen of best-selling Acura model
Getting new Chicane LED taillights
Acura is getting ready to reveal the latest version of its best-seller. The Acura MDX prototype will give us a look at the fourth-generation of the luxury crossover, and it’s set to debut just two weeks from now.
The teaser video included shows off the lines of the new MDX, looking much sharper than the current model and more in-tune with the smaller RDX and new TLX sedan. That includes new taillights that look to add a whole lot more to catch your eye, especially when compared with the current model that is, if we’re being honest, a little dull. Sharp lines running front to rear seems to be the new thing, and that includes those angular rear lights Acura calls Chicane lights.
We can also see what looks like a panoramic glass roof on top, and if the shark-fin antenna placement is any indication, a sleeker roofline where hatch meets body is also on the way.
“This fourth generation MDX is destined to continue the legacy of its predecessors, particularly the first generation which set a new standard in the luxury SUV segment,” said Emile Korkor, AVP Acura Canada. “Acura is committed to its performance roots and this next generation MDX will deliver an exceptional experience behind the wheel. It is the most refined, technological advanced and sophisticated SUV in our history.”
We’ll get to see it, in full, on October 14th. It’ll be badged the MDX Prototype, but we’ve learned from Honda (and Acura) that Prototype means “this is pretty much what we’re going to build for you.”
