Acura’s 2024 Includes EV, New Subcompact Crossover

Acura updating models for 2024

  • Honda announces updates for both brands for 2024

  • New Acura model joining the lineup

Acura is planning a new crossover for later this year. It will be part of a wave of new products that include refreshes to some of its most popular models, the automaker announced as part of the Honda U.S. automotive business update.

The crossover will be all-new and will sit below the RDX in the Acura lineup. The company says it will be “positioned at the gateway of the lineup alongside the Integra.”

A smaller model would suggest an Acura variant of the Honda HR-V. Acura models are normally much more than a re-badge, but as the Integra is very close to the Civic upon which it is based, this new crossover could be equally similar to the smallest Honda crossover.

The Acura MDX, the brand’s best-seller, gets revised styling and Bang & Olufsen audio as the brand moves away from ELS. The MDX will also trade its much-maligned touchpad interface for a touchscreen and a “more usable center console.” Acura will add Google built-in and new driver assistance features.

Sales of the ZDX, the brand’s first EV, will start early this year. The RDX will also receive some upgrades.

On the Honda side, both the electric Honda Prologue crossover and a new CR-V that’s both a PHEV and fuel-cell electric will go on sale. The Civic will get a styling refresh and will add hybrid power to both sedan and hatchback models. Lastly, the Odyssey will get some updates in 2024.

Honda sales were up 30 percent in 2023 as the brand recovered from inventory shortages in 2021 and 2022. The company expects another 10-15 percent increase this year. Honda also touted the CR-V hybrid, which it says was the best-selling hybrid vehicle in the U.S. last year.
