Obviously, it will be an EV.
Alfa plans to have it ready by 2027.
It will become the brand’s fourth utility vehicle.
The fact that Alfa Romeo is planning on launching yet another SUV should not surprise anyone – that’s where the money and the market are. This time, however, Alfa will focus on a larger flagship-type SUV that will compete with well-established heavy hitters.
The new yet-unnamed SUV will arrive by 2027. As we know, the Tonale is on the way, and it will be followed by the Brennero in 2024. Unlike the two compact SUVs, the larger midsize SUV will tackle the likes of the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and potentially the Porsche Cayenne. What we do know for sure is that it will be all-electric.
The question is then: Is it over for cars at Alfa Romeo?
Alfa Romeo will not become a crossover-only brand like Jeep, Imparato said. “We are not abandoning the Giulia” midsize sedan, said Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato as reported by Automotive News. “There will be a future Giulia, and it will be an electric-only model.”
Alfa Romeo’s goals, very much like all other manufacturers, are to increase sales and market share. And the only way to achieve results is by building and selling SUVs.
