It will be offered in limited numbers.
Alfa Romeo is going all-electric come 2027.
Alfa Romeo’s history is steeped in motorsports and by default, the internal combustion engine. As the automaker turns towards electrifying its entire lineup over the next five years, they still have a few ICE vehicles to share with enthusiasts including a sports car early next year.
Alfa Romeo chief executive officer Jean-Philippe Imparato told Auto Express: “Alfa is sportiness. You will see something sporty in the first half of 2023. […] I am on two scenarios: full EV or full ICE. I can tell you [this car] will be a very exciting one, very expensive, very selective. We will probably have some surprising, interesting proposals that will not always be full EV for the coming two years.”
Thoughts are that the new Alfa Romeo sports car will be mid-engined, assembled on a carbon fibre chassis, and might even be inspired by some of the automaker’s most storied cars from the past.
Specifically, the gorgeous 33 Stradale may serve as inspiration for the car, it will likely roll on the company’s signature telephone dial wheels, and it’s quite possible that it will be powered by an updated twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 currently found in the Quadrifoglio versions of the Giulia and Stelvio.
Alfa Romeo plans to reveal this new sports car by the end of November.
