The Tonale will be available in two trim levels, with the US receiving only PHEV versions.
The base price of the hybrid version is $54,995 in Canada.
Canadians will be able to order a gasoline-powered version in Sprint and Veloce trims.
Alfa Romeo has opened the reservations list for the Tonale ahead of the start of production scheduled for late March.
This has unveiled the pricing structure of the new SUV, which will be available in the United States and Canada in two trim levels, with US versions sharing the same plug-in powertrain.
This engine and electric motor combo will deliver 285 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels while also providing an electric range of over 30 miles (48 kilometres) in both versions.
Canadian buyers will also be able to order their Tonale with a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 256 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque in both trim levels.
Interestingly, both the US market plug-in Ti and the Canadian 2.0L Sprint have a starting price of $44,995 that includes features such as 18-inch five-hole wheels, LED headlamps, cloth upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a hands-free power liftgate, ambient lighting, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the Uconnect 5 infotainment system housed in a 10.25-inch screen, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
In Canada, the hybrid version of the Sprint will be available from $54,995.
The Veloce trim will bring sportier items such as 19-inch five-hole alloy wheels, adaptive suspension, chromed dual exhaust tips, red-accented black Alcantara upholstery, as well as aluminum pedals and paddle shifters. A different front grille is also included in this model.
Its price in the US will be $47,495 while it will cost $46,495 in Canada with the 2.0L engine and $57,495 with the hybrid powertrain.
Both versions will also feature a complement of driver assistance technologies such as forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, driver attention monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.
A number of optional packages will also be offered on both versions of the Tonale, such as the Active Assist Advanced package that includes a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, intelligent speed control, and traffic sign recognition at a price of $2,000.
The $1,500 Premium Interior package comes with leather upholstery and ventilated front seats while the $2,500 Premium Interior and Sound package also adds a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
A semi-panoramic moonroof can also be added for $1,200 and the Tonale Ti can be equipped with a High-Performance Driving package that includes red Brembo brake callipers, aluminum pedals, and paddle shifters. This package comes standard with the Veloce trim level.
All prices for optional packages are for the US since detailed Canadian pricing hasn’t been announced yet.
It is possible that Alfa Romeo will add the more affordable Sprint trim level to the United State to close the gap with the related Dodge Hornet, which currently has a base price that is lower by $14,000. It is important to remember however that this price is for the non-hybrid version of the Dodge.
Deliveries are expected to begin in May for the United States and in the following months for Canada, where buyers will qualify for up to $5,000 in federal clean vehicle incentives.
