Alfa Romeo is still planning on going all-electric by 2027.
The very important Tonale was launched last week.
The new EV will slot below the Tonale size-wise.
This small crossover has been talked about for a while. Going at least as far back as early summer 2020, the rumoured Brennero was on its way. Now, other than the name, of course, Alfa Romeo has confirmed that a small electric utility vehicle is on the way.
Alfa Romeo Tonale PHEV Will Have All-Electric Smaller Brother
The production facility where the “Brennero” will be assembled will be the same as where the new subcompact crossovers from Fiat and Jeep are expected to be built. Th Tychy, Poland plant should be churning out the small Jeep by 2023 and, as the new small Alfa is planned for 2024, it stands to reason that both will share many components.
That platform is the CMP platform and currently underpins the DS 3 Crossback and Opel Mokka, according to Motor Authority. The structure will be updated for the Alfa Romeo and likely provide a little more power and range.
Meanwhile, the Alfa Romeo Tonale will set the tone with a PHEV version.
