All-Electric Genesis SUV Coming in 2021

Genesis was late to the SUV game. Within a year, they’ll have at least three of them.

  • The North American Genesis GV80 reveal happens tomorrow and we’ll be there.
  • It will be followed by a GV70 SUV later in 2020.
  • The Genesis Electric SUV will be built on a dedicated EV platform from Hyundai.

The interest and, let’s face it, hype surrounding Genesis’ first ever SUV, is beginning to grow. We know that they’ve invested heavily in a Super Bowl ad which will feature celebrity couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, a new logo, the Young Luxury slogan and, of course, the GV80 SUV. And now, the first electric SUV from Genesis, to come next year, has been confirmed.

Some weeks ago, an international press drive event saw members of the media get familiar with the Genesis GV80 and its 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. North America’s turn comes tomorrow evening as the new Genesis GV80 will be revealed to media at an event in Miami.

While we wait to see the SUV and hear about all relevant details, we’ve also learned that on the heels of the GV80 will come a GV70 compact SUV. This sporty new utility vehicle will share the G70’s platform and promises to be quite the driver.

And finally, following the GV80 and GV70, another SUV will join the Genesis SUV family, and this one will be fully electric. Other than the fact that this electric Genesis SUV, and not small urban cars like the Mint Concept, will be built upon a Hyundai-developed EV platform.

If you’re curious about the Super Bowl ads, Genesis has released a few teasers: Teaser 1 and Teaser 2.

Make sure to check back here for more details on Genesis and the new GV80 SUV.
