It will take the stage at next month’s New York Auto show.
It will be powered by a 276-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-litre engine.
The Elantra N will be the hottest N vehicle to date.
There was a point in time, not that long ago, when all things hot and compact seemed to be all but dead. The last five years or so have been good and most recently, Hyundai has taken it upon themselves to breathe new life into the sport compact segment. The next one, the Elantra N, will undoubtedly be wicked.
We are convinced of this as we’ve just spent a week with an Elantra N Line and quite frankly, no $27,500 CDN should be this entertaining. Its boosted 1.6-litre, good for 201 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque, makes it a snappy performer. We can easily imagine fast the full-fat N will be all the more potent with 276 horsepower and a generous 289 torques. If Hyundai keeps the weight down, it’ll smoke the new Volkswagen Golf GTI and possibly give the Golf R a run for its money.
Hyundai will reveal all on August 19th at 12:45 pm EST at the NYIAS.
