VW’s redesigned Tiguan becomes an even better bargain
New finishes should make this a more pleasant SUV
The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is all-new. The popular compact crossover gets new styling that blends Audi in the side with modern Volkswagen ID. models in the front. It also gets a revised engine, standard AWD, and VW says it has elevated the interior with premium features and materials. Both things the last generation was very much lacking.
Despite all of that, the 2025 Tiguan is only a bit more than it was last year. The starting price is $36,495, a bump of $600.
Not only do you get 201 hp this year instead of 184, the slightly higher price comes with more content. Just like last year, the starting place for the new Tiguan is the Trendline trim. It gets 17-inch alloys, adaptive front LED lights, and keyless access outside. Inside, it has a larger 10.25-inch digital cockpit display, a 12.9-inch center screen, and a heated faux leather steering wheel.
Comfortline starts from $39,995. It gets 18’s outside and tinted rear glass. On the inside, it has perforated leatherette seats with power driver adjustment, a power hatch, and new Atmospheres synchronised ambient light settings. R-line for $43,495 adds 20-inch wheels, black accents, and R badges, as well as a standard panoramic roof.
The top-spec model is the Highline. It has 20-inch wheels and the R-line’s bumpers. It also has a 15-inch center screen, Harman Kardon audio, and three-zone climate control. The upscale trimmings are on display here with real open-pore walnut on the dash and Varenna leather seats with ventilation and quilted stitching. The $47,495 model adds 30-colour ambient lighting, three-position driver seat memory, and safety assists like park distance control and a 360 camera.
Expect the 2025 VW Tiguan at dealers in Canada this spring.
