Grand touring Gran Coupe gets updates for 2022
Flashier looks for subdued continent crusher
Alpina is giving its B8 Gran Coupe a bit of a makeover for 2022. That includes a new touch screen for the super coupe, as well as a host of new colours and shades that are exclusive to the Alpina version of the BMW 8 Series.
The famed German tuner has already boosted the 8 Series GC’s engine to 621 hp along with 590 lb-ft of torque, giving the non-M version of the engine M levels of power and far more torque. That extra torque, on-hand from just 2,000 rpm, is key to the nature of Alpina, known for building BMWs designed to crush long distances in supreme comfort at high speeds.
Keeping you entertained on those long journeys is a new 12.3-inch Live Cockpit display. The huge touchscreen makes it easier to use and helps the driver keep their eyes on the road for more of the time. The car also comes standard with BMW Driving Assistant Professional for highway cruising and Parking Assistant for when you arrive.
A new grille design comes with glowing kidney grilles as standard, enhancing the nighttime appearance of the Alpina B8. The grille bars are now a split design, another update from 2021. New inserts in the air inlet openings give the car an updated look, helping further set it apart from last year.
Lastly are the new paint shades, with Portimao Blue, Sanremo Green, Skyscraper Grey, Frozen Pure Grey and Frozen Tanzanit Blue joining the lineup. That’s on top of Alpina’s exclusive blue and green metallic finishes.
