Current Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and Prime order holders might get the new version.
The Toyota RAV4 was the best-selling SUV in Canada in 2022.
Although the hyped-up Toyota RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid has faced several issues in the recent past, there’s no denying that it remains high on consumer want lists. In fact, the compact SUV’s current 5th generation, launched for the 2019 model year, is the most appreciated ever.
The next 6th generation is expected to break cover in late 2024 or early 2025 or roughly two years from now. We’ve seen wait lists for the hybrid and Prime iterations exceed that period in the last two years and it continues to be for those hoping to take delivery of a new RAV4.
Based on the information uncovered by Drive, it looks as though present Toyota RAV4 order holders won’t get the SUV we see online and in showrooms today. 2023 model-year RAV4 availability is already limited and though production numbers should steady as part supply issues ease, Toyota may still have difficulty meeting the demand.
The good news is that this is probably not bad news. According to some sources, the next-generation RAV4 will ditch the petrol-only version in favour of an all-electrified lineup, in other words, only hybrid powertrains, like the Sequoia.
We are still many months away from finding out more about the next RAV4 but that’s ok, we’re used to waiting.
