In addition to new models and exotic cars, the 2026 Montreal Auto Show offers another attraction to convince you to stop by: The Overlanding Zone.
Making its debut this year, this section of the show is inspired by the growing popularity of outdoor activities since the start of the pandemic.
In particular, overlanding—a form of nature camping off the beaten path—has attracted many new enthusiasts over the last few years.
Of course, this activity requires an adventure-ready vehicle, but the recipe remains relatively simple, making it accessible to everyone.
Essentially, the basis of overlanding consists of taking a vehicle with above-average off-road capabilities and installing all-terrain tires and a roof-top tent, as well as racks for luggage and outdoor gear, such as bicycles and kayaks.
Here is a gallery of overlanding-ready models present at the Montreal Auto Show, proving that you don’t need a pickup truck to get away from civilization; certain hybrid and electric models are also very well-suited for the task.
