- Global debut of the all-new Aston Martin V12 Speedster;
- Features a 700hp V12 engine;
- Only 88 copies will be built.
Aston Martin Lagonda always put on quite a show at the Geneva Motor Show. Their stand is always a crowd favourite. Just last year we could find an Aston Martin Valkyrie, a Red Bull Racing Formula 1 car and, of course, all their regular cars showcased all in one booth.
Even with the show cancelled this year, Aston Martin still delivered. The Gaydon-based manufacturer unveiled the Aston Martin V12 Speedster, a limited-edition model that will be built in 88 copies.
The car is built on Aston Martin’s latest bonded aluminium architecture with both the DBS Superleggera and Vantage elements in order to create a unique platform. It features the best of Aston Martin like an independent double-wishbone front, and multi-link rear suspension with coil springs and adaptive damping offering Sport, Sport+ and Track modes. The V12 Speedster came to life over a year ago thanks to the bespoke branch of the manufacturer, ‘Q by Aston Martin’.
“It makes me enormously proud to reveal Aston Martin’s latest, most exciting special model today,” said Dr. Andy Palmer, Aston Martin Lagonda President and Group CEO. “The V12 Speedster is an incredible demonstration of the breadth of capability and determination from the ‘Q by Aston Martin’ team, who have worked tirelessly to create this stunning, two-seat sports car aimed at our most demanding and enthusiastic customers.”
In terms of power, the Aston Martin V12 Speedster has a 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine developing 700 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission with a limited-slip differential in the rear. With this powertrain, the V12 Speedster can reach 100km/h from standstill in 3.5 seconds on its way to a 300km/h limited top speed.
In order to stop this high-performance machine, Aston Martin fitted 410mm carbon-ceramic brakes in the front and 360mm in the rear. As for the wheels, the V12 Speedster comes standard with 21-inch forge centre-lock alloy wheels.
The Aston Martin V12 Speedster will be limited to only 88 copies with a starting price of £765,000 including VAT (about $1.3 million CAD) with deliveries starting in the first quarter of 2021.
