For those of you that do not speak Audi, Avant is how they refer to station wagons. Their tweet from last night stating “Avants in the U.S.” means wagons in the US.
There has not been an Audi Avant station wagon in North America for roughly ten years. To be fair, the A4 Allroad stayed behind and is still available today however it never sparked real interest.
There’s been something of a resurgence of the wagon movement in the last few years. This counter-culture has served Mercedes well as its E Class has become nothing less than a status symbol.
This is not the first time that Audi teases the possibility of Avants (for the A4 and A6) returning to their North American line-up. Earlier this year, there was a buzz surrounding two Audi USA executives stating that the A6 and RS 6 were on their way.
This tweet says “Avants” which leads us to believe that both may make a return. Just down street, up in Canada, Mercedes wagon buyers can select from a C Class or an E Class estate. Our American friends are not privy to the C -Class wagon – this could be an opportunity for Audi to step in.
The good news is MORE WAGONS!
