The Volkswagen Group has confirmed this in an investor document.
Both will be major EV players for their respective brands.
These are only two of the numerous EVs coming in 2022.
Volkswagen’s done quite a turn-around in the five years since #dieselgate. Very quickly, they turned their focus to electrifying their lineup by launching new platforms for most of their brands. Now that VW itself has a pair of volume-dedicated EVs rolling (not without complications, mind you…), Porsche and Audi are next.
Talks about the next-generation Porsche Macan going fully-electric are nearly nine months old and now it looks as though we have a timeline. In an official investor document, Volkswagen included specific product plans for the next two years.
Also included in these plans, according to Automarket, is the fact that the Q5 will get an e-tron fully-electric version. It will join the Q4 e-tron and others however unlike them, the Audi Q5 will carry on as an ICE for a short while. In other words, the e-tron will be a Q5 version.
For those like us excited about the minivan revival, VW’s also re-confirmed that the ID. Buzz (possibly ID.7) will also launch in 2022.
To note, 2022 is the European date which generally means that North America is one year later.
