  • The Audi RS 6 Avant GT is inspired by the RS 6 GTO concept car.

  • Only 660 examples will be produced.

Audi has unveiled the RS 6 Avant GT. This is nothing less than the most radical and ostentatious version of its already iconic wagon.

One hell of a silhouette

As you can see from the photos, the Audi RS 6 Avant GT is a bold, sporty wagon. It’s a direct descendant of the RS 6 GTO concept car, which drew inspiration from the brand’s motorsport heritage, particularly the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO.

Compared with the familiar RS 6 Avant, this new iteration features a hood and fenders made entirely of carbon fibre. It is also distinguished by its 22-inch wheels, styled after the Avus wheels.

The front grille has been redesigned. There’s also a large rear spoiler integrated into the tailgate. The latter bears the inscription “RS 6 GT”, while only the letters GT appear on the front fenders.

To pay tribute to Audi’s motorsport heritage, it can be supplied with white paint and wheels, in addition to black, grey and red decals. Other combinations are also available.

Under the hood

Mechanically, the GT version of the RS 6 Avant inherits the same 4.0L turbocharged V8 engine. It develops 620 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. It is married to an eight-speed automatic transmission and the quattro four-wheel drive system.

Interestingly, the rear axle differential has been recalibrated compared to the RS 6 Avant to optimize dynamic driving.

A limited edition

Not just anyone can buy an Audi RS 6 Avant GT. The German manufacturer has announced that production will be limited to 660 units. A special plaque can be found on the cabin’s center console. The Audi RS 6 Avant GT will be assembled at Böllinger Höfe, where the R8, e-tron GT quattro and RS e-tron GT are also built.

For the moment, we don’t know how many units will be shipped to the Canadian market. Also, Audi has not disclosed the price range.
