This partnership between Baojun and GM results in a compact hatchback EV that offers commodious space and cost-efficiency, appealing to a broad spectrum of consumers.
Dubbed Yun Duo in Chinese, the Cloud model’s dimensions align closely with those of the Chevrolet Bolt EUV. It boasts a length of 193.9 inches, a width of 72.8 inches, and a height of 65 inches. Sporting a wheelbase measuring 106.3 inches, the Cloud ranks as Baojun’s largest EV, embracing a five-door configuration to enhance practicality. The EV’s dedicated platform and minivan-inspired design ensure the interior exudes spaciousness despite its compact exterior.
The Baojun Cloud caters to a capacity of five passengers and showcases an impressive storage capacity of 1,707 liters when the rear seats are folded. In scenarios with all seats in use, the cargo volume remains a functional 382 liters, which expands to 606 liters by removing the trunk floor.
Under the hood, the Cloud EV incorporates an electric drive motor that delivers 100 kilowatts (134 horsepower) and 243 pound-feet of torque. The vehicle offers two battery options: 37.9 kilowatt-hours and 50.6 kWh. These configurations result in estimated travel ranges of 360 kilometers and 460 kilometers, respectively, as per China’s CLTC cycle. The capability for rapid charging enables replenishment from 30 to 80 percent state of charge within a mere 30 minutes using DC fast charging.
The Baojun Cloud showcases an MPV-inspired design with distinctive elements, including segmented headlights, rhombus-shaped taillights linked by a luminous bar, a panoramic roof spanning over 2 square meters, and 18-inch wheels. Inside the vehicle, a two-tone interior incorporates hand-stitched sofa-like seats. The rear three-seat row offers adjustments of up to 135 degrees for enhanced passenger comfort. The dashboard houses a 15.6-inch intelligent console screen, an 8.8-inch instrument cluster, and the Ling OS 2.0 operating system equipped with voice integration. Notable interior features encompass ambient lighting, wireless cellphone charging, and a 360-degree panoramic camera system.
The Baojun Cloud is available in four distinctive variants, priced between $13,250 (95,800 yuan) and $17,100 (123,800 yuan). This competitive pricing structure has undoubtedly contributed to the vehicle’s remarkable achievement of securing 10,000 preorders in a short span, indicating its strong resonance in the Chinese market.
