Bentley Bentayga S and Azure Add Sport and Comfort to Big-Buck SUV

Bentayga gets hybrid system upgrades for 2023

  • A pair of new trims enhance the hybrid Bentayga in two different ways

  • Both get more power and extended EV range

The Bentley Bentayga is getting another pair of hybrid offerings. One that’s meant to be sportier, the other more coddling. Called the S and Azure, they’ll also give the Bentayga hybrid a bit more range and power.

Under the hood of the two is the same 3.0L twin-turbo V6 as found in other Bentayga hybrids, but here the electric motor has been slightly tweaked. The difference is small, 134 hp vs 126 and 295 lb-ft vs 258. The total output is 455 hp, up from 443.

More significant is the new 18.0 kWh battery. Bentley says that gives the SUV 44 km of electric range.

The Bentayga S (in yellow) is meant to offer “an even more engaging drive.” Changes include more sound from the V6 for a more sporting character along with a new sports exhaust designed to work with the hybrid system. The S will offer a chassis setup 15 percent stiffer for more engaging reflexes.

Bentayga S is set off with blackline exterior trim and 22-inch directional wheels. Inside will be loads of motorsports-inspired Dinamica and digital performance gauges.

Bentayga Azure (the green one) is tuned to be even quieter. Bentley says being exposed to traffic noise of more than 70 dB lead to an increased risk of depression. So they worked to make the Azure quieter than that. And to cut road vibrations even more than a standard Bentayga.

Doing more to help occupant wellbeing, it has 22-way adjustable front seats and input from a neuroscientist to help consider posture, thermal comfort, and even lighting inside.

The spec includes three open-pore wood veneers, bright chrome badging, and a jeweled filler cap.
