Bentley Celebrates its Centenary With the Bentley EXP 100 GT

The Bentley EXP 100 GT is the perfect blend of performance, technology and craftsmanship as the luxury carmaker celebrates its centenary.

W. O. Bentley and his brother founded Bentley Motors Limited back in 1919 and today, the company is celebrating its 100th birthday by reimagining the Grand Touring of the future with the unveiling of the Bentley EXP 100 GT.

Bentley calls the concept car “the vision of the future of luxury mobility” of the brand. The future for them is 15 years from now, the world of 2035.

Built on an all-electric platform, the EXP 100 GT can be driven or used with a fully autonomous mode. It features Adaptable Biometric Seating that can be configured in three different ways and adapts to the driving mode.

The zero-emissions and fully-autonomous car as a predicted range of 700 km, according to the British brand. The four motors and their combined 1,105 lb-ft of torque will make the car sprint from 0-100 km/h in less than 2.5 seconds.

Sustainability also plays a big role in the Bentley EXP 100 GT. Here’s a list of materials used in the concept: 5,000-year-old Copper Infused Riverwood, exterior paint made from recycled rice husks, 100% organic leather-like textile from winemaking, British-farmed wool carpets and embroidered cotton interior surfaces.

The 5,8 metres long (and almost 2,4 metres wide) concept features an Artificial Intelligence (AI) called Bentley Personal Assistant. The AI can pre-empt the passenger needs to augment their comfort. Bentley is giving, as an example of this, that the AI can use the reactive seat surfaces and respond to passenger position during driving. The EXP 100 GT can also use eye-tracking and head movements. Even your blood pressure can be monitored by the car.

The Bentley Personal Assistant has five unique modes: Enhance, Cocoon, Capture, Re-Live and Customise. Enhance collects inputs from the outside environment, Cocoon makes a protective space, Re-Live replays highlights of your Grand Tour and Customise combines elements of all the modes.

Here’s what they said about the Bentley EXP 100 GT Concept:

Adrian Hallmark, Bentley Chairman and CEO, said: “Today, on our Centenary, we demonstrate our vision of the future of our Marque, with the Bentley EXP 100 GT – a modern and definitive Grand Tourer designed to demonstrate that the future of luxury mobility is as inspirational and aspirational as the last 100 years.

Stefan Sielaff, Director of Design said: “The Bentley EXP 100 GT represents the kind of cars we want to make in the future. Like those iconic Bentleys of the past, this car connects with its passengers’ emotions and helps them experience and safeguard the memories of the really extraordinary journeys they take.
