Odds are that it will be a more luxurious version of the Bentayga SUV.
Bentley’s press release leaves little and much to the imagination. The key sentence is this: “the new model will sit in sumptuous comfort at the pinnacle of its range,” Knowing how important and popular the Benteyga is for Bentley’s range and bottom line, we’re likely soon to be introduced to a new version of the SUV.
The misleading bit in the announcement is that Bentley refers to this new vehicle as a new model, more specifically the 5th one, in the premium automaker’s lineup. Bentley’s portfolio consists of the Bentayga, the Flying Spur, and both the Continental GT and Continental GT Convertible, considered separate models.
There is a chance that the new model may be the Mulsanne replacement, but the market wants more SUVs and not sedans. When considering the fact that the Bentayga accounts for 2/5 of all Bentley sales, a hyper-premium iteration of the SUV makes sense.
