BMW has pulled the wraps off its new range-topping performance model, the 2024 BMW X1 M35i xDrive, placing a formidable contender in the compact Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) segment. The X1 M35i xDrive is armed with the most powerful 4-cylinder engine in BMW’s lineup, promising stellar performance combined with innovative digital technology, all for a base MSRP of $57,500 CAD.
Powerful Performance Delivered by BMW’s Most Potent 4-Cylinder Engine
Under the hood lies a powerful 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine, part of the BMW Group Efficient Dynamics family. Enhanced with M TwinPower Turbo technology, this powerhouse delivers an impressive 312 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The engine, built with an optimized oil supply system and new, stronger crankshaft, promises captivating performance coupled with a stirring exhaust note, affirming the X1 M35i xDrive’s performance credentials.
Complementing the potent engine is a 7-speed Steptronic transmission, known for its ultra-sharp shift action. A pull and hold of the left-hand shift paddle for at least one second triggers the M Sport Boost function, setting all powertrain and chassis systems to their sportiest setting for situations that require rapid bursts of speed.
Unveiling Advanced Features: BMW xDrive and Updated BMW iDrive System
The new X1 M35i xDrive promises blistering acceleration, going from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds and boasting an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. Assisting this performance is the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, paired with a mechanical limited-slip differential. This combination provides sublime performance characteristics, ensuring optimal power distribution, superior traction, and balanced handling.
Inside, the X1 M35i xDrive breaks new ground by introducing the BMW iDrive with QuickSelect and BMW Operating System 9. This updated system offers a newly designed home screen and an improved menu structure, making the selection and operation of various functions and digital services more intuitive.
On the outside, M-specific design cues including the BMW M kidney grille, M exterior mirror caps, and four exhaust tailpipes emphasize the performance character of the X1 M35i xDrive. The interior isn’t left behind either, with available Alcantara-trimmed instrument panel, M-specific graphics of the BMW Curved Display, and optional M Sport Seats with illuminated M logos.
The 2024 BMW X1 M35i xDrive, set to be manufactured at the BMW Group Plant Regensburg, promises to offer thrilling performance and cutting-edge technology when it launches in Canada in October 2023.
