BMW has unveiled the iX3 M60 xDrive, the most powerful version of its new Neue Klasse electric SUV. The dual-motor M Performance model produces 450 kW, equivalent to 603 hp, and will become available to order at the end of January 2027. Despite the power figures, this is not a full M vehicle.
The iX3 M60 xDrive uses one electric motor on each axle for AWD traction. Combined torque reaches 875 Nm, or 645 lb-ft, enabling the SUV to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 240 km/h.
Power comes from a 112.2-kWh usable battery based on BMW’s sixth-generation electric vehicle architecture. The automaker estimates a maximum WLTP range of 754 km, or 646 km EPA. Official Natural Resources Canada figures should reflect the estimated EPA numbers.
Its 800-volt electrical system supports DC fast charging of up to 400 kW. Under suitable conditions, BMW says a 10-minute session can add as much as 340 km of WLTP range. A 22-kW AC onboard charger is standard. As well, the underlying platform also supports bidirectional charging.
BMW has equipped the M60 with adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering and an electronically controlled rear M Sport differential. Chassis revisions include model-specific spring and damper calibration, additional front-end bracing and modified anti-roll-bar connections. M Sport brakes are standard.
The central computer called Heart of Joy manages propulsion, braking, steering, charging and energy regeneration. BMW says it processes information 10 times faster than its previous control systems. Shift paddles let drivers adjust powertrain responses, while dedicated M Sport and M Sport Plus modes change the drivetrain, steering, and suspension settings.
The cabin includes M Sport seats with 10-way power adjustment, massage functions and illuminated M logos. A 17.9-inch central display works alongside BMW Panoramic Vision, which projects information across the lower windshield. The steering wheel includes controls for Boost Mode and M Mode.
Exterior highlights include yellow lighting elements inspired by BMW’s endurance racing program, an illuminated kidney grille, a rear diffuser and an M-specific roof spoiler. Twenty-one-inch wheels are standard, with 22-inchers optional.
Production is scheduled to begin at BMW’s Debrecen, Hungary, assembly plant next spring. Canadian pricing and availability have not yet been announced.
