Silver or blue matte paint finishes
Extended leather inside with orange contrast stitch
The latest M versions of the BMW X5 and BMW X6 are arriving, and they’ll be coming with a special limited edition. The First Edition variants of each will offer special paintwork, new wheels, carbon trim, and a fancy interior with extra Alcantara.
The X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition were both first revealed about a year ago, but, well, that’s the kind of year it’s been. So call it better late than never. What do you get with the First Edition models, over and above the 4.4L twin-turbo 617 hp V8, that is?
It starts with the matte BMW Individual Frozen Dark Silver paint shown on the X6 in the photo, but BMW is also offering the Individual Frozen Marina Bay Blue you’ll see on that X5 in the picture. BMW says the matte finishes show off the crossovers’ lines and curves, and the low gloss lets them do that no matter the lights.
The M alloys come in a star-spoke design finished in high-gloss Jet Black, a contrast to the flat paint and exclusive to the First Editions. Other exterior styling cues include carbon fibre body bits like the exterior mirror caps, rear spoiler, and an M Carbon engine cover.
Inside, the Merino leather trim is offered in a two-tone Silverstone and Midnight Blue exclusive to the First Edition vehicles, with Black Alcantara inserts in the bolsters and orange contrast stitching for the seats, door panels, and the instrument panel. Like the leather-covered dash, the Alcantara headline is also finished in the dark blue.
Some other special bits include First Edition lettering applied to the carbon interior trim bits, under the clear coat rather than as a sticker. These trim strips are different depending on the market where the vehicle is sold to help make it a bit more special. Just 250 of each model will be offered, and the order books are open now.
