BRABUS has unveiled the distracting P 900 Rocket Edition, a limited-run pickup conversion based on the current Mercedes-AMG G 63. The Bottrop, Germany-based tuner plans to build only 10 examples worldwide, positioning it as the road-focused alternative to its earlier G-Class pickup conversions.
The project combines a four-door G 63 cabin with a purpose-built cargo section that no one will ever use to haul cargo. BRABUS lengthened the ladder frame by 50 cm and moved the rear suspension and axle assembly back by the same distance to create room for the bed. Overall length is 5.38 metres, or 68.9 cm longer than a standard G 63 without its rear spare wheel.
The cargo area uses a metal floor and side-opening tailgate (like the donor G), with carbon-fibre side panels and soft-teak decking. Two waterproof, lockable storage boxes sit behind the cabin. A steel bulkhead separates the bed from the passenger compartment and incorporates a heated rear window.
Power comes from a substantially revised twin-turbocharged V8. Displacement rises from the G 63’s 4.0L to 4.5L through changes that include a new crankshaft, forged pistons and connecting rods. The engine also receives larger turbochargers, upgraded fuel pumps and a stainless-steel exhaust with four side-mounted tailpipes with selectable valve settings.
BRABUS quotes output of 900 hp and 992 lb-ft (1,250 Nm) of torque, although the onboard system limits torque to 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) to protect drivetrain components. A nine-speed automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive help the pickup reach 100 km/h from 0 in 3.7 seconds. Its electronically governed maximum speed is 240 km/h.
The exterior package includes a carbon-fibre widebody treatment and forged 24-inch wheels with carbon-fibre aerodynamic blades, wrapped in 345/25 ZR24 tires in the rear, 295/30 ZR24 rubber up front. Hankook developed the low-profile tires for the application. A coilover suspension lowers the vehicle by about 45 mm and offers selectable damping settings.
Inside, the company’s Masterpiece workshop trims the cabin in black leather and Alcantara, with red stitching, accents and carbon-fibre details. Buyers can specify individual finishes as part of the limited production run.
BRABUS lists the example shown at €711,718, excluding German VAT and for export, or CDN$1.12 million plus other fees.
The P 900 continues a line of BRABUS G-Class pickups that began with the XLP, unveiled in 2020. Its extended wheelbase and cargo bed add utility, while the engine and chassis changes target high-speed road use.
