Just look at those taillights
No, seriously, what are you planning, Bugatti?
Bugatti is asking “what if…?” And, well, we’re asking the same thing, only they’re making it a rhetorical question, whereas we’re asking what if they had actually shown us more than a quartet of taillight bars that make it look like the latest from Molsheim is some sort of X-Wing.
While hyper luxury carbuilder Bugatti is no stranger to special editions, offering plenty of them that bumped the Veyron then Chiron to even more impressive levels of power, performance, and bedroom poster iconography, we don’t think this is one of those. Because if it is just another special, why hide it so well? Even cranking up the brightness of the image, a tried and true method of eking out a bit more information than the manufacturer wants you to have, didn’t work on this one. And no Chiron has taillights that look like this.
Is Bugatti’s latest design language going to turn the rocketship cars into spaceships? Is the automaker planning on building actual spaceships? Ok, probably not, but we know that they’ve got something cool on the way. Will it be powered by a yet more powerful quad-turbo W16, or will this see the Bug move electric (playing to talk of the automaker being acquired from the Volkswagen Group by EV-maker Rimac)?
We don’t know. We don’t even know the date, just that there is a digital world premiere coming soon. Ok, Bugatti, mission accomplished. We’re excited for a car that’ll probably cost ten times what our homes do, and that we’ll never see on the road. Is that what you wanted? Oh, right, of course it was.
