First deliveries are expected later this spring.
Mecanically, he vehicle sticks with the 3-cylinder turbo engines.
The Avenir trim is new this year on Encore GX.
The Buick brand unveiled the new Buick Encore GX 2024. The urban crossover is the first North American model to receive this design, which was previously shown on the Wildcat concept vehicle or even the Electra-X concept in China.
The front-end of the new Encore GX 2024 is revitalized with a gaping grill between the new foglights integrated with LEDs at the ends of the hood. It’s also worth mentioning that the vehicle is the first of the brand to receive Buick’s new redesigned badge, the three-shield logo that was recently updated.
It’s the same story out back as the running lights, still with LEDs, feature a new signature for the coming year, while the new logo is even accompanied by the five letters B-U-I-C-K installed right in the center of the tailgate. Finally, the bumper integrates the diffuser a little better. As for the wheels, they have also been redesigned and are available in 18- or 19-inch sizes.
The Encore GX 2024 will also be the first in its lineage to be available with the Avenir trim level, while the ST (for Sport Touring) livery is also back as an option with its sportier look.
But the charm doesn’t stop there, as the interior has also been redesigned with a dashboard featuring a large dual screen behind the steering wheel and in the center of the panel. This is becoming more and more common in the industry, and it seems Buick wants to follow the trend of the moment in this direction.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless systems come on all liveries, while wireless charging for smart devices is available as an option. In addition to this updated first-row seating ambience, the 2024 Buick Encore GX benefits from plush materials and unique stitching throughout the vehicle. Note that the Avenir and ST trims will also be distinguished from the other versions by their embroidered front headrests. As for the ST model, it will also be equipped with a new steering wheel with a flattened base for a more… sporty feel!
For the Avenir livery, the designers also wanted to differentiate the vehicle with clear rear marker lights, a black and beige interior, leather upholstery, power seats in the first row, a heated steering wheel, an air ionizer, not to mention the Avenir badges here and there.
Mechanically, the Buick Encore GX keeps the same options… in the US! That is to say, the two 1.2 and 1.3-liter turbocharged 3-cylinders return with the same horsepower and torque figures (137 hp and 162 ft-lb of torque) and 155 hp and 174 ft-lb of torque), the smaller of the two coming exclusively with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The other 1.3-liter option instead teams up with a nine-speed automatic unit when it’s paired with the all-wheel drive option.
In Canada, only the biggest engine remains with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive with a CVT for the two-wheel option and a nine-speed automatic for the all-wheel drive versions.
Production of the 2024 vintage begins next month for first deliveries in the spring.
