The brand’s 2020 roadmap called for five EVs, two of which are the Lyriq and Celestiq.
These models should all go on sale in 2024.
The Lyriq is expected to be more easily available this year after a slow production ramp-up.
General Motors is going all-in on the electrification of its lineup and the Cadillac brand is at the center of its strategy.
This is why after the Lyriq and the Celestiq which were revealed in 2022, the premium brand is expected to unveil three new electric models that will enter production in 2024.
Few details are known at the moment about these upcoming EVs but the company’s latest roadmap published in 2020 called for a small and relatively affordable SUV that could be sold alongside the current XT4, a larger three-row SUV that could make an electric counterpart to the XT6 and a full-size electric Escalade.
This last model is not much of a secret since the Escalade is Cadillac’s most popular model and a trademark filing revealed the company applied for the “Escalade IQL” nameplate.
Speaking of names, the brand vowed to abandon alphanumeric appellations in favour of real names with the introduction of its EVs.
Other trademarks that could be used to name the three upcoming models include Lumistiq, Vistiq, Ascendiq, Symboliq, and Optiq.
Going back to the future electric three-row SUV, sources say this model could be smaller than the current XT6 because it will be “globally sized”, meaning it is likely to be offered in Europe alongside the Lyriq.
Despite this, interior space and cargo capacity are said to be priorities for the development team.
In addition to the new models, the first units of the Celestiq flagship sedan should be built in late 2023 and the Lyriq is expected to be more easily available.
Indeed, the electric SUV only saw 122 deliveries in the whole of 2022 due to a deliberately slow production ramp-up that was aimed at catching issues before a wider rollout, which is planned for this year.
