The desire for a high-powered Escalade goes back many years.
Will it be petrol-powered or an EV? GM won’t say.
The all-new 2021 Cadillac Escalade will undoubtedly be the best one ever, and we are very much looking forward to test-driving it shortly. So far, we’ve reviewed the all-new Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon and have nothing but praise for GM’s latest batch of full-size SUVs. Fans of the big luxury truck would like to see an Escalade-V this time around.
The latest 5th generation Cadillac Escalade is all-new with the possible exception of the 6.2-litre V8 which produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. In most instances, it’s more than enough except when it comes to bragging rights. Against the BMW X7 M50i, the mighty Mercedes-AMG GLS 63, and a handful of others, it’s down on power. According to carbuzz.com, this may soon change.
Escalade Product Manager, Dave Schiavone said: “Ever since we came out with the V-Series on the CTS, we’ve had dealers and customers always asking for (an Escalade-V). We’re always looking at opportunities, and where we can take portfolios.”
Without absolutely confirming anything, all assume that Cadillac has an Escalade-V planned however will it be powered by a supercharged LT4 V8 which will find its way into the CT5-V Blackwing, or something else. The ultimate Escalade-V would certainly be an electric torque monster if it was to borrow the upcoming GMC Hummer electric powertrain. Perhaps the Escalade-V will be a mix of the two…
