Performance V badge applied to the Escalade for the first time
Caddy keeping quiet on the details, but expect big things
Cadillac is bringing the V badge to the place where it seems the most fitting. The high performance badge will be coming to the Cadillac Escalade, with the automaker holding out the details until this spring.
Teasing the super SUV, Cadillac played to our hearts and gave us the sound of the engine from the Escalade V. Without revealing what it is, they played us a roar that sounded very familiar to those with an ear for GM V8s.
We expect that the engine will be a version of GM’s LT4 V8. The 6.2L supercharged engine that was used in the 2016-2019 Cadillac CTS-V and lives under the hood of the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. In that car, the engine makes 668 hp and 659 lb-ft of torque.
Of course GM has plenty of other powerful V8s, but few that can deliver this level of shove. For reference, the current Cadillac Escalade uses a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 making 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. There’s a 3.0L diesel, too, but don’t expect that one in any V.

Again, they’re short on any details, with the specs set for a spring 2022 reveal, but expect massive brakes along with even bigger tires and serious adjustments to the Escalade’s magnetic ride shocks to help this big beast handle and stop as well as that engine makes it go.
