Cadillac’s first all-electric vehicle was unveiled today;
The Cadillac LYRIQ will offer a range of 300+ miles.
Cadillac’s first electric vehicle was unveiled tonight during a live presentation at General Motor’s Design Dome in Michigan. Powered by GM’s new Ultium battery system the LYRIQ will offer a range of over 300 miles (483 km) on a single charge.
To make this happen, the all-new Cadillac EV will offer different charging options including DC fast charging rates over 150 kilowatts.
The Cadillac LYRIQ will be available in rear-wheel drive and performance all-wheel drive configurations.
In terms of technology, the brand’s first all-electric vehicle is getting quite a lot of it. Indeed, the LYRIQ will feature a 33-inch-diagonal advanced LED display, Cadillac’s Super Cruise, a 19-speaker AKG studio audio system, a new dual-plane augmented reality-enhanced head-up display and supervised remote parking to name a few.
To add to that, Cadillac will introduce, for the first time, a brand-new road noise cancellation technology which “takes active noise cancellation to the next level by introducing more microphones and accelerometers”, according to the manufacturer.
Outside, the LYRIQ features a “black crystal” grille in the front as well as a dramatic lighting choreography to greet its owner.
“The LYRIQ represents the next iteration of the iconic brand’s styling, enabled by electrification, as only Cadillac can express,” said Andrew Smith, executive director, Global Cadillac Design. “Inside and out, LYRIQ is a thoughtful integration of design and technology and is intended to make every drive an occasion.”
