Cadillac Unveils the Celestiq Show Car Ahead of the Production Version

Cadillac Unveiled the Show Car version of the Celestiq which previews the upcoming production version of the brand's new electric flagship.

  • The Show Car previews what to expect from the production version of the new electric flagship sedan

  • The design of the Celestiq takes inspiration from the early models of the brand

  • The Celestiq will be equipped with Ultra Cruise, a more advanced version of Super Cruise

After many teasers, Cadillac finally unveiled the Celestiq show car, which previews the production version of this new flagship electric sedan.

The Celestiq will be the second electric vehicle from Cadillac which recently launched the Lyriq, but unlike the SUV, it will be a very exclusive product.

Indeed, the Celestiq aims for the very upper end of the market in order to compete with the likes of Bentley and Rolls-Royce. This is why its starting price is rumoured to be set close to $200,000 in the US.

The Celestiq will be a large fastback sedan that takes some inspiration from models in Cadillac’s past, such as the V-16 powered cars of the thirties, as well as from architectural works.

The front of the Celestiq is covered in black plastic that includes small LED lines that light up to create a pattern that gives the impression of a grille.

From the rear, the taillamps resemble those on the Lyriq with their shape that moves from the rear of the vehicle up to the C-pillars.

Inside, the Celestiq Show Car is very distinctive due to its red leather upholstery that gradually fades to black towards the top of the seatbacks.

The dashboard is topped by a massive 55-inch screen that runs the entire width of the car to face the driver and the front passenger. So that the driver is not distracted by what is displayed in front of the passenger, the screen is made so that this part is obscured when viewed from the side.

Other innovations on the Celestiq include the Smart Glass Roof which features four sections that can be made opaque or clear at the touch of a button as well as Ultra Cruise, which is a more advanced version of the current Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance system.

Cadillac says to expect more details later this year when the production version of the Celestiq is released to its first buyers.
