This new version of the logo is tied with its electrification.
The new Lyriq SUV will introduce the new logo.
Cadillac will be all-electric by 2030.
General Motors is highly committed to its bid to electrifying its entire product portfolio. The next step will be the introduction of the highly-anticipated Cadillac Lyriq. Much will ride on this vehicle’s success including a new logo for the storied premium brand.
Other brands that now feature updated crests, including Nissan, Volkswagen, Kia, and Nissan, have but one version of the logo for all of their vehicles. Unlike other car companies, Cadillac vehicles will sport one of two versions of its logo.
In Cadillac’s case, vehicles powered by internal combustion engines will continue to feature the rounded colourful version with the laurel wreath, according to Fox News, while new EVs will get the black and white iteration. Based on the source, the colour logo will be phased out by 2030 once the ICE is gone for good.
GM says that the silver-chrome colourless version of the crest is already available on some vehicles such as the Escalade Sport.
