The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada has just revealed 20 finalists for its Canadian Car of the Year Awards. The 20 finalists are divided up into four classes, including Car of the Year, Utility of the Year, Electric Car of the Year, and Electric Utility of the Year.

For Canadian Car of the Year, the five semi-finalists were the Acura Integra Type S, Honda Accord, Subaru Impreza, Toyota GR Corolla, and the Toyota Prius.

In the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year category, the five semi-finalists were the Genesis GV70, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-90, Subaru Crosstrek, and Toyota Grand Highlander.

Canadian Electric Car of the Year semi-finalists include the BMW i4, Genesis Electrified G80, Hyundai Ioniuq 6, Lucid Air, and Toyota Prius Prime. The electric category is open to EVs and PHEVs with more than minimal electric range.

Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year semi-finalists include the Genesis Electrified GV70, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV9, Mazda CX-90 PHEV, and Nissan Ariya.

The Canadian Car of the Year Awards are the only auto awards in the country where each vehicle is driven by those who vote on it. Nearly 50 AJAC jurors from coast to coast drive the vehicles in real-world conditions before casting a ballot.

Three category finalists will be announced in January, and the 2024 Canadian Car of the Year Awards will be presented at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto on February 15th.
