We knew the Dodge Challenger Hellcat was fast, but what we didn’t know was what it could do on the autobahn. Until now at least.
YouTube channel AutoTopNL decided to see what a Dodge Challenger Hellcat with 717 horsepower could do on one of the most famous stretches of road anywhere in the world. Turns out, it did pretty well.
For starters, the driver unleashed the full potential of the Hellcat by using the red key fob. The most powerful Challenger (and every Hellcat model) comes with two keys, a black one and a red one. If you start up the car using the black key, you get “only” 500 horsepower. To get the full 717 hp, you need to use the red key.
If you’ve ever driven on the autobahn, you will know that it’s not as simple as just “no speed limits”. Most portions of the highway are limited and speed limits are adjusted based on congestion and weather. That said, there are spots where the limit disappears and you can floor it to your heart’s desire.
It’s in one of those portions that AutoTopNL pushed the Challenger Hellcat to 270 km/h. As you can expect, it didn’t take very long to get there. What was less expected was how stable the car seemed at that speed.
The automotive world has a few tried and true equations. Challenger Hellcat plus autobahn equals fun (CH+A=F) is certainly one of them.
