Chevrolet Getting GMC Six-Position Tailgate for 2021

Chevrolet Silverado adds flexible modular tailgate

  • Six-position tailgate for amazing flexibility

  • Was GMC exclusive for 2019, 2020

We get it, nobody likes to share with their sibling. Especially when they’re fraternal twins. But the folks make you do it anyway, so now the GMC MultiPro fancy-pants tailgate is headed to the Chevrolet Silverado. And it’s happening more quickly than we thought.

Here badged the Multi-Flex tailgate (see, we totally didn’t just give it to your brother!), the tailgate boasts the same multi-position functionality as it has on the Sierra, and it’ll be coming to the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado starting early next year.

The tailgate offers six different positions, ranging from standard open to a bed-mounted step, box extender/load holder, and even a workbench table for the job site. The gate was offered initially on the Sierra 1500 for 2019, and initially only on the highest trim trucks. Since then, availability has extended down to SLT-grade as standard, with a conventional tailgate no-charge option.

Shown in the clip on a High Country pickup (notably shown with a spray-in bedliner and not the Carbon Pro GMC carbon fibre box), we assume that the Multi-Flex bed will be available on the more premium versions of the Chevrolet Silverado.

What we can’t tell from the clip is if Chevrolet will offer the GMC’s Kicker integrated tailgate audio system that packs a 100-watt outdoor audio system into the truck with four speakers, USB and AUX ports as well as Bluetooth.
