The 2023 Corvette Z06 will be officially revealed on October 26
The Z06 has been the most powerful version of the Corvette for many years
It will have a flat-plane crankshaft for the first time
Chevrolet has released a short video on YouTube to tease the upcoming 2023 Corvette Z06 before its debut on October 26.
The Z06 will be a more powerful version of the regular Corvette that is more track-focused, as was the case for the previous generation.
This will be the first generation of the Z06 to have its engine mounted behind the driver.
Enthusiasts all over the world are eagerly waiting for the official reveal, but in the mean time, Chevrolet is trying to drum up interest even more by teasing the car in pictures and most recently, in a video published on its YouTube channel.
In this video, we can see glimpses of the car that allow us to notice some details. For instance, the Z06 will be fitted with quad exhaust pipes with centrally mounted exits, like the previous generation had.
Also seen towards the end of the video is a yellow convertible, which confirms the availability of this body style on the Z06.
The bigger news though is what we can hear. Indeed, the sound emitted from the car has a distinctive sound that resembles that of an Italian exotic sports car, which points to a flat-plane crankshaft.
The 2023 Z06 will be fitted with a naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 engine that should make over 600 horsepower and according to the rev-counter showed on the video, it will rev up to 8,600 rpm, higher than any American V8 that came before it.
This engine should be mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission that will send power to the rear wheels.
Tweaks to the aero dynamics will also be present in order to increase downforce, since the Z06 will be aimed at buyers who want to enjoy their Corvette on the track as well as on the road.
