The 2025 Chevy Equinox EV marks the second model year for the bowtie brand’s compact fully electric crossover, featuring a few enhancements and adjustments over the introductory 2024 model. It’s sold alongside the gasoline-powered Chevrolet Equinox, which is a different product, and both are built in Mexico, albeit in different assembly plants.
2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Changes and Updates
The Equinox EV was introduced for the 2024 model year as part of GM’s transition to electrification. Those plans might not be as ambitious as before, given the cooler-than-expected demand for EVs, but the automaker’s zero-emission lineup is growing nonetheless. The 2024 Equinox EV was available in 2LT, 2RS, 3LT and 3RS trim levels, along with a limited-run 2RS Launch Edition variant. For 2025, the Equinox EV gets a simplified lineup consisting of LT and RS trim levels, which can be spruced up with option packages. The 2025 model also gets a lower base price.
Other changes were applied to the EV as well. The Red Hot paint color was replaced by Habanero Orange, and in addition to the standard 11.5 kW onboard charger, a 19.2 kW charger can be ordered as part of a package that also bundles 3 kW bidirectional charging capability.
Meanwhile, motor output has been revised. The Equinox EV with FWD now boasts 220 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque, up from 213 hp and 236 pound-feet, while AWD variants now dish out 300 horsepower and 355 pound-feet of torque, up from 288 hp and 333 pound-feet.
2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Trim Levels and Pricing
The Equinox EV is available in LT and RS trims, both featuring a front-wheel drivetrain as standard, with optional AWD.
Front-wheel-drive variants are equipped with a single motor, while AWD units are fitted with two electric motors. An 85 kWh battery pack provides energy, while the maximum charge rate on a compatible DC Fast Charger is capped at 150 kW.

2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Warranty Coverage
In Canada, the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV is covered by a 3-year/60,000 km Limited Warranty (whichever comes first) and an 8-year/160,000 km Electric Vehicle Propulsion Battery Limited Warranty, along with a 3-year/60,000 km Surface Corrosion Limited Warranty and a 6-year/160,000 km Rust Perforation Limited Warranty.
As for roadside assistance, GM offers 24-hour tow coverage for 8 years or 160,000 km and non-tow services for 5 years or 100,000 km in Canada, whichever comes first.
What the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Does Well
- The Equinox EV offers good range and decent energy efficiency. It can travel more than 500 km in ideal conditions, which is plentiful for the daily commute without having to be plugged every night or resorting to costlier public charging stations.
- Chevy’s compact electric crossover is spacious and versatile. There’s ample room for all five passengers and their gear.
- The Equinox EV is high tech, with a dazzling dashboard comprising an 11-inch digital driver instrument cluster and a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen. The system runs Google built-in, allowing owners to download apps and remain connected while on the go. It also includes OnStar services for a period of 8 years (a subscription will be required afterwards), with remote commands, built-in voice assistance, real-time traffic and navigation as well as automatic crash response.
- Subjectively speaking, the Equinox EV is a stylish crossover. It looks futuristic without being weird, boasting an athletic stance and just-right proportions.
What the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Doesn’t Do Well
- As with all of GM’s new EVs, there’s a ton of software on board, which requires over the air updates and constant bug fixes. Some owners have complained about glitches and teething problems. These issues should be resolved over time, but this is only the second model year for the Equinox EV.
- We can expect the RS units to offer a somewhat stiff ride with its 21-inch wheels and low-profile tires. Said tires will be costly to replace as well.
- The deployable door handles aren’t the best of ideas. Sure, they look cool and seamlessly blend in with the bodywork, but they’re difficult to grab and in winter or freezing rain conditions, there’s always a chance they won’t work as they’re supposed to.
- As impressive as the infotainment system is, GM decided to skip Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration in its new electric vehicles. This might be a dealbreaker for some potential buyers, especially if they’re used to an Apple-based software environment.
