2025 Chevrolet Equinox Overview

2025 Chevrolet Equinox ActivThe 2025 Chevrolet Equinox ushers in an all-new generation for compact crossover. The fourth-gen Equinox boasts fresh bodywork, an overhauled cabin and a host of technological updates to remain competitive in the hotly contested segment. It’s sold alongside the Chevrolet Equinox EV as a different product, and the North American version is built in Mexico.

2025 Chevrolet Equinox Changes and Updates

As mentioned above, the Equinox has been redesigned for 2025. It rides on a heavily reworked variant of the outgoing Equinox’s platform, incorporating a new electronic architecture as well as suspension and steering revisions to improve handling and ride quality, noise, vibration and harshness.

Three trim levels are now offered, including LT, ACTIV and RS, meaning the previous base LS trim has been dropped. The ACTIV trim is new, presenting a more rugged appearance, black badging, exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels as well as a unique Maple Sugar interior.

The 2025 Chevy Equinox keeps the previous generation’s engine, but it’s now paired with one of two new transmissions. Inside, it benefits from a new 11-inch fully digital driver instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch infotainment system touchscreen, incorporating a new Google built-in interface. The active safety feature list gets longer with enhanced automatic emergency braking, enhanced lane keep assist and side bicyclist alert, alongside the already-available blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control and rear cross traffic braking, among others.

New paint colors, such as Reef Blue Metallic and Cacti Green, and alloy wheel designs ranging from 17 to 20 inches in diameter, round out the changes for 2025 model year.

2025 Chevrolet Equinox LT2025 Chevrolet Equinox Warranty Coverage

In Canada, the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox is covered by a 3-year/60,000 km Limited Warranty (whichever comes first) and a 5-year/100,000 km Powertrain Limited Warranty, along with a 3-year/60,000 km Surface Corrosion Limited Warranty and a 6-year/160,000 km Rust Perforation Limited Warranty.

24-hour roadside assistance is offered on the Equinox for 5 years or 100,000 km in Canada, whichever comes first.

What the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox Does Well

  • Subjectively, it looks good, with a more rugged appearance across all trim levels. It stands out a little more on the road compared to the outgoing generation of the crossover.
  • The cabin’s infotainment system is dazzling, with a fully digital driver instrument panel and an 11.3-inch touchscreen. The Google built-in interface’s menu layout is easy to use, even while driving.
  • GM reworked the vehicle’s suspension and steering, and the result is improved ride quality and less noise, vibration and harshness. It’s not the segment benchmark, but it’s better than before.

2025 Chevrolet Equinox ActivWhat the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox Doesn’t Do Well

  • The Equinox’s engine, unchanged for the new model year, but mated to new transmissions, is powerful enough for the daily commute, but it could be more energetic.
  • In fact, its fuel economy ratings are among the worst in its segment. There are no hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains in the pipeline, and although GM sells an Equinox PHEV in China, there’s no indication that such a powertrain would be offered in North America. After all, there’s the Chevrolet Equinox EV for those who don’t want to spend money on fossil fuels.
  • The Equinox rides on a revised variant of the previous generation’s platform, so it’s not much bigger than before. As such, it’s not the most spacious crossover in its category, and the rear seatback angle can’t be adjusted. That said, the completely flat floor in the rear-seat area is an advantage if we’re planning to frequently travel with three occupants back there.
