As with the Mazda3 Turbo, Mazda Mexico breaks the news.
The Turbo will be powered by the 227-horsepower 2.5-litre boosted engine.
The Mazda CX-30 is already an odd duck in its category. This is by no means an insult, in fact, it refers to the fact that it is truly unique. The Turbo version and all its power will push the CX-30 closer to small premium SUV ranks, and this is no typo.
We reviewed the CX-30 a short while back and were, at first, slightly baffled by its reason for being. As a raised Mazda3 Sport, it brings little utility to the game other than its raised ride height. And this is purposeful as the CX-30 is simply meant to complement the Mazda3 family. We referred to it as the Mazda3 Allsport.
With the now confirmed Turbo version, according to practicalmotoring.com.au, the CX-30’s place in Mazda’s lineup is cemented. Its turbocharged 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine will deliver 227 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque (250 and 320 on premium fuel), all of which will be channeled through a 6-speed automatic transmission and AWD.
Mazda Mexico operations, Miguel Barbeyto, said: “There is a strong rumor about the turbo CX-30. I can confirm that, indeed, the Mazda CX-30 will arrive with a turbocharged engine and AWD. We will have all the details ready on September 17th through our official site.”
