Corvette to Become a Brand with Sports Cars, SUVs, and a Sedan

• GM will maximize the Corvette’s name recognition.

• The line-up will consist of premium sporty vehicles.

Also, there’s too much money to be made by expanding, some will say diluting the Corvette name into a sub-brand. As the auto industry makes the big shift towards EVs, every opportunity to one-up the competition must be taken.

We could partially blame Ford for this outcome as they brazenly affixed the Mustang name on an electric SUV, before doing it a few more times in the future. They essentially did the same with the Bronco so why would General Motors and Chevrolet not do the same with the Corvette?

The C8 Corvette has only begun morphing perceptions of the Corvette name. The new Z06 is nuts and everything that will follow will be even more mind-bending. Rumours persist that an E-Ray hybrid, a revived ZR1, and an extreme Zora hybrid are on the way. And let’s not forget the first all-electric Corvette also said to be coming.

Whatever the full game plan is with the sports car, Car and Driver reports that in 2025, GM will officially introduce the Corvette brand as well as a four-door Vette (won’t be a conventional sedan – think more Porsche Taycan-style) and a crossover. Both will be all-electric and, along with the electric sports car, will establish the new American performance EV order.
