Blacked out paint, trim, and wheels for first RWD R8s
Just second time Audi has used Panther paint and name
A special edition of the 2021 Audi R8 is on the prowl. The R8 Panther edition is limited to just 30 units and is US only, marking the start of the rear-drive R8 lineup with design elements not found on any other 2021 R8.
The Audi R8 Panther edition starts with Audi exclusive Panther Black crystal effect paint along with carbon fibre mirror caps. LED head and taillights with Audi’s dynamic light signature are standard as is a carbon package that adds carbon sigma side blades to the R8 along with carbon trim in the engine compartment (plus some in the interior, too).
20-inch double-five-spoke wheels in matte black with red trim finis the darkened exterior, while a Sport exhaust lets the V10 howl (and can be adjusted from a control on the steering wheel).
The inside of the R8 Panther stands out with full black leather and crimson red stitching. The racing seats are finished in the same crimson red Nappa leather while the gear shift and parcel shelf are clad in Alcantara. The headliner uses that same dark Alcantara, this time with a diamond stitching for those who are actually able to see the ceiling of the Audi R8.
Panther paint isn’t a first for 2021, it also appeared on the RS5 Panther in 2019. That car was limited to just 100 models and was trimmed much like this R8. The first R8 RWD model cars, the chassis uses sold rear axles in place of standard hollow pieces, gets a stiffer anti-roll bar, and more rear camber, all to help control the 532 hp 5.2L naturally aspirated V10.
